Large Family Garden

This large suburban north-facing garden in Surrey, had not been touched for years, with an unkempt lawn, overgrown, unruly shrubs and dominated by a large and beautiful oak. The privet hedges are heritage-listed. The client wanted a garden that would work for them now, as a young professional couple who like to entertain, but could evolve as they grew as a family.

The final design included a large eating and relaxing patio area with a pergola for all-year use, an informal entertaining area in the form of a raised deck with firepit under the oak tree a large lawned area and a potential play area to the side. Working with a preferred contractor the project was completed over the winter months ready for planting in Spring 2022. The planting included trees for screening and privacy, colour and scent across all aspects from deep shade under the oak tree, to a sunny south-facing border along one side.
